Split Feed

Biography

Split Feed are a four-piece punk rock band hailing from Newcastle, one of Australia’s most prominent music scenes. Managing to cement themselves as one of the tightest punk bands on the East Coast thanks to their EP ‘Late Bloomer’ (2017) as well as 2018 singles 'Something More' and ‘Homesick’, the band have returned bolder than ever with new single ‘Trinkets’.

Inspired by the game Spy Fox, ‘Trinkets’ is a sentimental song that delves into the emotional attachment of people to even objectively worthless items. The song is a metaphorical tug of war about wanting to let go of ‘trinkets’ after a break-up due to what they represent, but also conversely not wanting to let these memories go. A pertinent reminder of the band's ability to combine hard-hitting, infectious melodies with poignant lyricism, 'Trinkets' explores the curious power inanimate objects can hold as physical reminders of past relationships.

The first cut of Split Feed's forthcoming second EP, recorded and produced by Fletcher Matthews (Dear Seattle, Sweater Curse, Clews), 'Trinkets' arrives off the back of a massive 2018 for the four-piece. After winning triple j Unearthed's competition to open Groovin' the Moo 2018 in Maitland, the band shared single 'Homesick' which premiered via triple j's Home & Hosed and was added to Spotify's 'Local Noise' and 'New Rock' playlists, accumulating over 75K streams on the platform alone.

Having cut their teeth on the live circuit supporting the likes of heavyweights The Rubens, Skegss, As It Is (UK), The Living End, Luca Brasi, British India and more, the band rounded out 2018 with a completely sold out ‘Homesick’ East Coast tour, solidifying their reputation for their explosive live show.
